A call for candidates
Torridge Common Ground are going to put candidates forward for town and district elections in May 2019. Now is your chance to become involved.
Do you care about Torridge and what happens in your town/district?
If so, you should be standing for the council!
Do you have experience or expertise that could be useful to your town/district?
If so, you should be standing for the council!
Do you think the direction and focus of the council needs to change?
If so, you should be standing for the council!
Anyone who lives in Torridge and is registered to vote can apply to become a Torridge Common Ground candidate. We only ask that you care about Torridge and that you can sign up to our ways of working and principles. Your political leanings or affiliations are not important.
It’s dead easy to apply. There are two parts. Firstly, you need to provide us with some basic details:
- Your name
- Your address and contact details
- Your age
Then we ask you to answer these four questions:
- When and why did you move to Torridge?
- Why would you want to be a Torridge Common Ground Councillor?
- What are your interest and expertise?
- Can you commit to the current Torridge Common Ground ways of working and principles?
We have not confirmed our final selection day yet but you will be notified when this is finalised.

If you’re in two minds, just remember that it takes people stepping up to make Torridge Common Ground happen. If you think it’s a good thing to have an ambitious, competent and independent town council you need to help make it happen.
